Cockpit Overhead frame for B737
The Cockpit Overhead frame is mainly designed to accommodate both overhead
panels. The frame is made of 2mm profiled steel and stands on six 'legs'. Four in
front (behind the MIP and 2 in the back (behind the chairs and pedestal). All legs
have minor height adjustment. The whole frame is painted in Boeing-gray
(RAL7011). The outer dimensions follow the lines of a scale 1:1 B737NG cockpit.
The frame is strong enough to connect with add-ons in a way that you can create
a closed cockpit if you wish. However, if you leave the frame as it is, you will still
have a strong 'inside a real cockpit' feeling.
Advantage over other solutions
Okay. The frame itself consists of some tubes. There are no 'walls'. Some
simmers buy a worn out cockpit of a demolished plane and spend hundreds of
hours to make it a home for their sim hardware. Others construct everything in
wood, and that will also consume a reasonable amount of time. Buying a polyester
shell is an option. Looks great. Ready in a fraction of time needed for the first two
options. But can it hold your overhead panels? Is it stiff and strong enough? We
think there is a far more better option. Our Cockpit overhead frame comes in four
parts and stands like a rock in less then 30 minutes flat. And with the optional add-
on's you can continue building your dream.
Start small with a MIP Backbone
Anyone who has assembled a FlyEngravity MIP sure knows that the whole construction must be bolted to 'something' to be
rigid. If not, you can hardly move the gear handle f.i. without moving the whole MIP. Well, we've got that 'something' for you.
The front-end part of our Cockpit Overhead frame gives your MIP a rock-solid backbone. The heavy weight of the backbone
makes that possible. You can even lift and move your MIP around by pushing the backbone. What's more, you can START with
the MIP Backbone and buy the rest of your frame later at no extra costs.
Taylor made Add-on’s
On request of existing users we have constructed several add-on's. Although they were tailor-
made solutions, the original design of the cockpit frame proved to be 'open source' and 'easy to
fit'. Among them you will find Monitor stands and Cockpit windows. And there is more to come.
Other aircraft
We have an open mind to match with products from other suppliers or with parts you own already.
So if you have special wishes just let us know. There is always a way to satisfy your needs. The
only reason why we started with the B737 is that we own one ourselves and that the largest sim-
crowd owns one. But if your choise is an A320 or B747 just ask and we will see what we can do
for you.
